WINTER 2007

FROM YOUR AREA CHAIR:

Hello to all,

The upcoming assembly is January 11, 12, and 13, 2008.  The hotel has created a new system to ensure accuracy of reservations.  If you were at the October assembly you received a card to be filled out and returned to the front desk.  If you were not at the October assembly, you can call the hotel and make reservations as usual.  Members who filled out a card should have received a confirmation by now in the mail.  The card system enables us to be able to make reservations for the entire year.  It is a new system though so please be patient and if you have not received a confirmation, call the hotel.

Amy Filatreau, our  GSO Archivist will be our guest this assembly. Rob K., our Area Archivist, will be her host and she will do a presentation Saturday night in lieu of a speaker.

Please make note that this assembly will include a DCM Orientation Saturday morning at 9:00 am and we plan to include a DCM workshop in each of the following assemblies.  This assembly will include our first Service Sponsorship workshop.  It will be facilitated by Past Delegates, Corliss G. and Kathy P.

Finally, thanks to the districts that have emailed me with information on when their monthly business meetings are held and when district functions will be held.  I will continue to pass on this information to the Officers and Service Coordinators.  Additionally, the Webmaster is adding your functions to the Schedule of Activities link.  Be sure to check the activities on a regular basis.

I look forward to seeing everyone in October!

Love and service,
Tina C-L.

FROM YOUR DELEGATE:

The time is approaching once again for Area 14 to prepare for the annual General Service Conference in New York City. The conference with be held shortly after our April 2008 Assembly. I mention this to remind all districts, groups and members so that if you intend to submit an item for consideration on the 2008 Conference Agenda I must have it no later than our January 2008 Assembly. The deadline for submission of items to our General Service Office for consideration on the 2008 agenda is January 15, 2008.

I continue to be invited to districts in Area 14 to share my delegate report and participate in area service functions. As the Grapevine / LaVina Conference Chair I have been invited to attend the Grapevine Board Meeting held in conjunction with the January 2008 General Service Board meeting in New York City.

I recently submitted an application to our General Service Office for Orlando, Florida to be considered as a possible site for the 2020 Alcoholics Anonymous International Convention. Our application along with others submitted will be reviewed during the Trustee’s Committee on International Conventions meeting at the January 2008 General Service Board Meeting.

Thank you once again for the opportunity to serve as your delegate and I look forward to seeing you at our January 2008 Assembly.  I sincerely hope that the blessings of the upcoming holiday season will be with each of you.

Yours in Service,
Fred H.
